Beltronics is the oldest continuous manufacturer of radar detectors and has been in many cases the first in the industry to debut significant innovations. Founded in 1967 in Mississauga, Ontario, Canada, the company established operations in the US in 1980. Corporate headquarters were moved to the US in 1992. Beltronics was the first to debut Ka band detectors in the late 1980s to pick up photo radar, the first to offer Ka wideband in the early 1990s to deal with the Stalker radar gun and the first to debut Ka superwideband in 1993 to combat the MPH Industries Ka band gun. Additionally, they were the first to offer invisibility to the VG-2 Interceptor radar-detector detector in the early 1990s and, just recently, have introduced the Beltronics STi Driver, the first radar detector invisible to the newer Spectre radar-detector detector. Unlike most other manufacturers who have resorted to offshore manufacturing to cut corners, all Beltronics radar detectors are still designed and manufactured in North America.
