Pros: With roughly 70% of the detection range of the RX-65, it will still provide better warning than most other units on the market, since the RX-65 has roughly double the range of most detectors on the market, particularly on the all important Ka band, which is where most cops operate nowadays. Handles POP radar fine, is invisible to the VG-2 Interceptor and has a voice alert. Picks up Safety Warning System transmitters if you should ever drive by one.

Cons: Compared to the RX-65, the additional differences beyond the lesser detection range consist of the elimination of the multiple threat/bogey counter and the elimination of the Ku band detection capability. Also eliminates the selectable band defeat feature.

Bottom Line: If you’re looking for a mid-priced unit that has better detection range than
most others on the market and don’t mind giving up a few features, the Bel Pro RX-55 is a smart choice.
